Lesson of experimental chemistry in Go with the Wind Middle School in Ypsilanti, MI.
The students learned about how the atoms are connecting into molecules. The bonding of atoms of carbon and oxygen is associated with release of energy that is observed as heat. We investigated thermodynamics of such reaction by burning a piece of corn chips and measuring the increase of temperature of water heated by the fire.
